Seed to Table is a 75,000 sq. ft. farmer’s market-inspired store, renowned for its fresh produce harvested daily from its own farms in eastern Collier County. This mega-market features a café, children’s playground, an extensive wine selection, flowers, plants, and herbs, alongside a wide array of fresh produce, meats, seafood, and ready-to-eat items. Regular food, wine, and in-store demonstrations contribute to what the media has dubbed “the Disneyland of grocery shopping,” creating an innovative, attractive, and unique experience.
In 2018, I participated in this project as part of the Grupo Arquimagenes team, taking a leadership role in ensuring seamless collaboration between teams across Costa Rica and the U.S. My responsibilities included designing specific areas and leading cross-border teams to work toward a common goal: delivering an unprecedented experience. To achieve this, I traveled to the site in the later stages to direct efforts, but most of the project was conducted remotely using virtual meetings inside a 3D model of the market. By utilizing VR headsets, we were able to conduct walkthroughs with the client based in Florida, keeping them fully engaged in every decision-making process. This cutting-edge approach ensured that despite the distance, the client was intimately familiar with the project before construction began.
I also contributed to the design of key areas, including the bakery, candy and ice cream shops, the fast-food section, part of the all-organic station, the upstairs bar, a section of the wine room, and the restroom hall, ensuring that all elements aligned with the market’s unique vision.
